Training Discount
Train hard, save money. The Training Discount is a verified, performance-based discount on your race entry, up to 15% off, powered by your last 90 days of Strava activity. Connect at registration, we read your runs, and you automatically get the best of three tiers for the distance you pick.
Tier 1 — Volume
Average weekly running mileage over the last 90 days.

We sum every run in your last 90 days and divide by 12.86 weeks.
Tier 2 — Consistency
Did you actually show up week after week?
- Ran at least once in 8 of the last 12 weeks → 10% off
Multiple runs in the same calendar week count once. Cross-training and walks don't count - the activity has to be tagged "Run" in Strava.
Tier 3 — Distance-matched
Specific training that proves you're ready for the distance you're signing up for. This is the tier most people miss, so here is exactly how each race qualifies:

For the full-marathon race-credit path, the activity must be marked "Race" in Strava (workout type 1) and be at least 13.0 miles long.
How they combine
You always get the highest single tier you qualify for - the discounts do not stack. Example: a runner averaging 28 mi/week (Tier 1 = 10%) who has also done a 20-mile long run (Tier 3 = 15% on the full) and signs up for the marathon gets 15% off. The same runner signing up for the 5K gets 10% off (the volume tier wins, because Tier 3 on a 5K caps at 5%).
Privacy
- Read-only access. We can never post to your Strava feed.
- We only read your activity list (date, distance, type) - no GPS routes, no kudos, no friends list, no heart rate.
- The Strava connection is discarded after you register. We don't keep a long-lived token.
FAQ
I just started running. Can I still get a discount?
Probably yes - 15 mi/week or 8 active weeks unlocks something. Even a single 8-mile run unlocks the half-marathon Tier 3.
I run but I don't use Strava.
The discount requires Strava because that's the only training log we can verify automatically. You can still register at full price.
What if I'm a Malad Valley local?
If any of your recent runs started within 30 miles of Malad City you'll see a "Verified local runner" badge. It's a recognition, not an extra discount tier.
What counts as a "week" for the Consistency tier?
ISO calendar weeks (Monday - Sunday), evaluated in UTC.
Can I re-connect Strava later to re-check my tier?
Yes. Disconnect from the registration page and reconnect. We always re-pull fresh activities.
