Pay Your Race Entry in Ethereum: ETH and USDC Accepted at the Malad Valley Marathon

Ethereum is the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap and the home of the largest stablecoin ecosystem in the world. If you live in DeFi, hold ETH or stables, or just prefer the smart contract chain for everyday spending, you can now pay your race entry directly in ETH, USDC, or USDT.

What we accept on Ethereum

  • ETH on Ethereum mainnet
  • USDC on Ethereum mainnet
  • USDT on Ethereum mainnet
  • Layer 2: ETH and USDC on Base, Arbitrum, and Optimism (fees are cents, settlement is seconds)

The checkout shows the current price for each, you scan the QR or copy the address with MetaMask, Rabby, Frame, Coinbase Wallet, or any standard EVM wallet, send, and your entry locks once the transaction confirms.

Stablecoin payment is the smoothest way to spend crypto on a marathon

If you are nervous about ETH price moves between checkout and confirmation, pay in USDC or USDT. The dollar amount stays exactly what the checkout quoted, no need to second-guess the trade. Stablecoins on Base or Arbitrum are our recommended route. Fees usually land under 10 cents.

How to pay in ETH or stables

  1. Pick your distance and continue to checkout.
  2. Select Ethereum at the payment step, then pick your specific asset (ETH, USDC, USDT) and network (mainnet or L2).
  3. Scan or copy the address into your wallet.
  4. Send. Confirmation arrives in seconds on L2, a couple of minutes on mainnet.
  5. Email receipt with your bib lands within the minute.

The crypto discount applies

Whether you pay in ETH, USDC, or USDT, the crypto discount stacks on top of the current tier, the skip-shirt $10, and the RUNTHEVALLEY $5 coupon. See our pricing post for the math.

Why we added EVM rails

Most of the crypto community lives at least partially on Ethereum. Adding ETH and stablecoins meant we could welcome DeFi users, NFT collectors, DAO contributors, and anyone who keeps a working balance in USDC for spending. It also gave us a cleaner path for international runners, who often find USDC on L2 cheaper to send than a wire transfer.
